A-Rod may have had hip surgery today, but he’s likely riding a bike as I type this, as he begins his safe but aggressive recovery program. We know A-Rod won’t slack off; say what you will about him, but he’s willing to work.
There have been rumors connecting the Yankees to Mark Teahan of the Royals, but to me that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense unless you get him for essentially just some money. Teahan can play 3rd, but otherwise he’s a corner outfielder, something the Yankees have a lot of. Since A-Rod will probably be back relatively soon, the trade that makes the most sense is for a player who can back up short and second as well.
The Yankees already have a player like that: Cody Ransom. Would Teahan for a month or so really be that big of an upgrade over Ransom? I don’t think so.
